Inco Contracts at 15: Thriving as One of the UK’s Fastest-Growing Principal Contractors

From a one-man operation in 2010 to one of the UK’s fastest-growing principal contractors, we’ve spent our 15th anniversary year celebrating the journey that brought us here – and the major milestones we’ve achieved along the way. As the year draws to a close, we’re reflecting on what has been our most transformative period yet for Inco Contracts.

Since the management buyout in 2020, led by David Cotterill and Sam Norton, our growth has accelerated significantly. With our Head Office in Cannock and regional bases in Cardiff, Stevenage and Warrington, Inco Contracts is now delivering a wider range of larger and more complex projects than ever before, building on the solid foundations laid in our early years and strengthening our reputation for reliable building contracting services and high-quality commercial construction services.

This momentum has helped us create 21 new roles across the business. As part of our expanding footprint, we’ve opened a new Cardiff office led by Adam Bidhendy and launched our dedicated education division under Billy Sneddon, positioning us as trusted education contractors for complex school refurbishment programmes. We’ve also strengthened our internal capability with new marketing and administration hires to support increased activity, ongoing growth and rising demand.

“The last five years have been a whirlwind period for the business,” says Managing Director David Cotterill. “We’ve opened new offices, expanded into fresh markets and continued to build on our established work in the commercial and industrial sectors.

“Our reputation has been built on delivering projects on time, on budget and to the highest standard. That approach has driven repeat business and new opportunities, and it’s the foundation we’ll continue to build the company around.”

Using this model, we’ve expanded into the North West, the South East and, most recently, Wales and the South West. We now support everything from refurbishments in the Midlands to commercial refurbishments in Cardiff, and we expect further office openings over the next twelve months, alongside continued growth within Education and other specialist sectors including complex industrial refurbishments.

Today, we work across the industrial, education, office fit-out and heritage sectors, with a growing portfolio that reflects the scale and ambition of the modern Inco Contracts brand.

“Our culture is about creating positive impact in the communities where we operate,” adds Operations Director Sam Norton. “That extends far beyond bricks, mortar and cladding.

“Every member of our 50-plus team has a personal development plan, and through the Inco Foundation we’ve supported a wide range of charities over the past five years, raising more than £60,000.

“This includes a DIY makeover at St Giles Hospice in Lichfield, support for the Motor Neurone Disease Association and, most recently, improvements to children’s play spaces at New Cross Hospital for The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust Charity.”

To celebrate our 15th year, we brought our teams, partners and suppliers together for a company-wide away day and two charity golf events in support of the Foundation. Our anniversary celebrations will conclude with a special awards evening in December – a fitting end to a landmark year for the business.

Fifteen years in, and Inco Contracts is just getting started.
